Mets nice and SNY broadcaster Keith Hernandez needed to go to the emergency room to get eight stitches in his huge toe after falling off the sting of his sizzling tub whereas doing yard work at his Sag Harbor house, Gary Cohen revealed throughout Monday’s Mets-Brewers broadcast.
“The best way I perceive it’s, [Hernandez] was standing on the sting of his sizzling tub with pruning shears, pruning his roses, and he may’ve taken a little bit of a tumble, grabbed for one thing on his manner down that didn’t help him, and took a somewhat laborious fall,” Cohen stated. “I’m advised that there was a visit to the emergency room and there have been eight stitches in his huge toe. So I don’t know if he’s gonna be in a wheelchair or if he’s gonna be on crutches.”
Cohen indicated Hernandez can be again within the sales space on Thursday.
SNY labored up a cartoon of Hernandez in a hospital mattress together with his foot wrapped up and Mr. and Mrs. Met standing at his bedside. A photograph of Hernandez on “Seinfeld” hung over the mattress.
Provided that Hernandez’s accidents weren’t extra severe, Cohen and Ron Darling have been in a position to have fun after Cohen requested SNY Mets producer Gregg Picker whether or not Hernandez needed his broadcast colleagues to inform the story of his fall on the air.
“Gregg stated, ‘Properly, what Keith stated was, that if the fellows need to speak about it, it’s OK,’ ” Cohen stated. “The kicker was when Keith stated, ‘You understand, I’m undecided I would like them to speak about it as a result of I don’t at all times need it to be about me.”
“Come on,” Ron Darling replied. “That’s hilarious.”
“If there was ever a extra un-self-aware quote — Keith, it’s at all times about you! And we prefer it that manner,” Cohen added.
